Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Does Any of This

Sound Like You?

You feel inadequate when it comes to protecting yourself and/or your family. You’ve been told before that you lack “character”. Whatever the heck that means.

Your self-confidence is questionable at best, and could certainly use a boost. You need a surefire way to cope with the stress and anxiety of work and relationships.

You’re looking to improve your health and physical fitness, but the thought of heavy weights or long runs terrifies you.

When was the last time you were in a situation

that made you feel inadequate?

Maybe someone made a hateful comment about your appearance. Maybe you tried to accomplish a feat of strength (lifting heavy weights, running a Tough Mudder, etc.), but you fell short of victory.

Or maybe, someone physically threatened you and you were left paralyzed with fear for not knowing how to react.

What did that feel like? Probably not too great.

For years, martial arts have proven to be a way of building strength, learning self-defense, and reversing those self-confidence issues.

Would you rather be the hero or the victim?

The first step to empowerment and personal safety is understanding that we live in an often dangerous and unpredictable world. When something happens that threatens you or someone else’s well-being, you really only have two options: pray and hope for the best, or accept the responsibility of protecting yourself and your loved ones.

Furthermore, living a healthy, ideal life is all about balancing the mind, body, and spirit.

When was the last time you focused on your body and prepared it to withstand the hardships life sends your way? While self-defense is the most common reason people take up a martial arts practice, it’s far from the only one.

Self-Defense from Life’s Attackers

In an ideal world, we’d never want to have to use Kung Fu in our lives, but the reality is we live in a dangerous and violent world.

We want to protect ourselves and keep our loved ones safe. Sometimes, the comfort of knowing you possess a skill that can save a life is an alluring benefit in and of itself.

That’s why our Kung Fu training is very serious about teaching you the skills needed for self-defense in any circumstance. Whether that be some neighborhood thugs, some stranger on the street, or the bully co-worker who keeps stealing your lunch (kidding, of course!).

Knowing how to defend oneself is a necessary skill in a scary situation, but our Kung Fu teachings also instill the respect and self-discipline that comes along with turning your fists into weapons.

Underlying Fitness and Health Benefits

Let’s face it. We all spend way too much time at a desk and staring at a computer screen. There’s not a single one of us who couldn’t benefit from moving more.

Kung Fu is an awesome way to increase your level of fitness, while learning the important art of self-defense.

See for yourself the many health benefits Kung Fu has to offer…

  • Improves muscle strength and aerobic capacity.
  • Tones muscles in the arms, legs, and core.
  • Relieves stress and anxiety.
  • Increases energy levels and centeredness.
  • Strengthens the immune system, lowers blood pressure, and enhances sleep quality.

Almost sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? Well it isn’t. And that’s what our Kung Fu classes have to offer.

Personal Growth and Self-Confidence Boost

All of us stop growing physically at some point in our adult lives (vertically, at least). But that doesn’t mean we should stop growing mentally or spiritually.

Personal growth is an important factor in everyone’s life. If we’re not setting goals and improving ourselves, we begin to feel stagnant or misguided.

Kung Fu is a great way to push the bar higher and improve yourself. Our Kung Fu classes at Market Muscles offer clear and concise training goals, giving you something meaningful to pursue with every class.

Become a Part of a Welcoming Community

When you walk into your first Kung Fu class, you’re immediately welcomed as a member of our martial arts family, no matter who you are.

We’re a like-minded and friendly community of Kung Fu students and teachers, and we do our best to ensure that prospective and new students of all ages, shapes, and abilities feel comfortable during their practice.

Our classes provide a healthy and supportive environment to meet people and make life-long friends with others who share your passion for the martial arts. Come check out an upcoming class, and we promise that you’ll feel right at home.

FAQs

What exactly is Kung Fu?

Kung Fu is actually a generic term that refers to the martial arts of China. It originated in a well-known place called the Shaolin Temple, where monks have practiced for thousands of years during their journey to enlightenment.

There are hundreds of different types of Kung Fu that one can practice. If interested, you can check out more about Kung Fu on its Wikipedia page.

How does Kung Fu differ from Karate, Judo, or Tae Kwon Do?

Karate is actually an Okinawan form of combat that focuses heavily on throws and kicks to disarm an attacker. It is known for its hard blocks and power-oriented style of training.

Judo is similar to wrestling in the U.S., and it originated in Japan sometime in the late 1800s. While Judo’s techniques are certainly useful, it’s considered mainly a sport and less of a traditional martial art.

Tae Kwon Do is brought to use by the Koreans. It’s similar to Karate, in that it encourages use of kicks and is very power-oriented.

Then there’s Kung Fu. There are actually many different types of Kung Fu that offer both hard and soft styles of training. Kung Fu martial arts use a combination of grappling, throws, weapons, and use of the hands and feet for self-defense. It’s a more complex system of combat that can take time to master, but is very rewarding to practice.

One of Kung Fu’s closest relatives outside of the Chinese martial arts would be Jiu Jitsu, which originates from Japan.

What are the main benefits of Kung Fu?

We’ve already covered many of the benefits above, but here they are again in case you missed them.

Kung Fu is an awesome way to learn self-defense and boost self-confidence. Knowing that you have the ability to diffuse a sticky situation, then act with force (only if needed) is a useful trait that everyone could benefit from.

Regular practice also improves fitness levels, strengthens the arms, legs, and core, and improves balance. Since you are up on your feet and moving, it also promotes improved heart health and increased levels of energy.

As you learn and deepen your understanding of the Kung Fu practices, you also learn to relax your mind, reduce stress, and be at peace with the world around you.

Who can learn Kung Fu?

Kung Fu is an excellent hobby or practice to take up for people of all ages, shapes, sizes, and abilities. Almost everyone who comes and participates in our classes falls in love with the training style and sense of community.

Kung Fu martial arts are, in general, considered moderate to higher intensity type classes – with the exception of Tai Chi style classes.

Almost anyone can come in and learn the Kung Fu practices if they possess the physical capacity and desire to do-so. Usually, limiting factors will be walking disabilities, recent injuries, or serious health conditions.

As always, please consult a medical professional if there are any concerns on your end.

Do I need to be in good physical shape to start Kung Fu classes?

Not at all. In fact, our classes are specially designed to safely and effectively teach you self-defense, while improving your health and fitness.

As you attend more classes, your abilities increase and you can do more with less effort. We do, however, always encourage our students to challenge themselves and reach exceedingly greater goals with each class.

How long before I can expect to confidently defend myself?

As always, this will vary from person to person. In general though, three to six months of consistent and focused practice should provide enough martial arts training to successfully defend yourself from an untrained attacker.
